I paid full kindle price for this book. That’s a rarity for me! Okay it was $5 but still… When I read the snippet for book two (this book) at the end of the last book- I had to read it right away! And I did. Over the course of two days…while on a family vacation with like 26 people. That’s how committed I was to this story 🤣
First of all- and this needs to be stated bc I wasn’t absolutely in love with the first book (3 stars)- you absolutely don’t have to read the first one to read this one! There is plenty of recap.
There is also a fair amount of recap of the hero in jail and how he’s tortured. There are mentioned of rape of other characters. So you should know that going into this one.
I’m basically obsessed with Broderick in this book. He’s like the “beast” vibe, to Kate’s “Beauty” vibe. He’s scarred and missing an eye, she’s kind and gorgeous and loves to read. So if you’re into Beauty and the Beast (this is not a retelling!) then this book is for you! And if you’re not into beauty and the beast…you should be ashamed of yourself. haha
Other tropes include: marriage of convenience, grump to sunshine, alpha male, bookworm, slow burn, fake relationship, forced proximity, opposites attract. So… basically every trope that I love haha.
Okay fine- I’ll actually give you my rating now!
5 out of 5 stars
3 out of 5 steam level
That’s right- this makes my list of REQUIRED READING for romance lovers! I guess I should make a historical romance list too, huh? Welp. No promises!
Ope, one last thing… this series features a whole family and it has Winston Brother vibes to it… Especially with a subplot of violence/kidnapping, etc. So if you like this historical series- definitely check out the Winston Brothers! (Which I also reviewed!)
While reading you should
